KJ’s Covid Crafts: Teeny Potted Succulents
WELCOME FELLOW CRAFTERS!!
With covid taking over many of our lives, I figured I start this section of the blog where you can come when you’re looking for something to do but you don’t want to start a massive undertaking. These will be small, relatively inexpensive crafts that you can pick up and spend as much or as little time on them as you’d like.
This weeks craft is: Teeny Potted Succulents
Who doesn’t want to fill every inch of your apartment/house/cubicle (if people still use these?) with greenery these days, right? Okay, well even if you’re more of the 2 plant kind of household, this craft is for you too. Follow the steps below and you’ll be on your way to a cute teen addition to your space. Heck, if you don’t have space, these make excellent little gifts too!
Step 1
To begin, let’s gather our supplies (pictured here). You can use any size/type of pot you’d like but it should have a drainage hole on the bottom and shouldn’t have a glossy finish yet. You can choose your favorite succulent for your pot too!
Step 2
This is the creative part! Lightly clean off your pot by wiping down with water and let dry completely. Assemble your paint colors that you’d like to use. Think of whatever fun art to put on your new pot, can be mountains or some palm trees or just as simple as a variety of shapes/color blocks! After you’re happy with the painting, let dry thoroughly before handling (paint should not feel tacky at all).
Step 3
Okay more than halfway there already! Pull out your succulent soil and put a small amount in the newly painted pot. Next, gently take your succulent out of its old plastic container and carefully loosen the soil around its roots with your fingers. Place the succulent into your new painted pot *the base of the succulent should sit evenly with the rim of the pot.* If the succulent sits too low, add more soil underneath then place back into pot.
Step 4
Alrighty, that’s it, you’ve done it! Now you can take a picture for the gram and post tagging #KJsCrafts and see all the other people who have joined you. *Most succulents should come with directions on how to water them, please follow instructions for plant care.*
